When nature does an about face.

Nature is a fickle woman. For months people in north-eastern Australia have been complaining about a lack of rain and now it seems there prayers and wishes have been answered and then some. In Queensland and New South Wales flooding is taking a toll. A big one. Whole towns have been washed away and many communities have been cut off by rising waters. Those of us in the writing community have the privilege of meeting people from all over the world and at times like these there are more than a few of us that have friends caught in the disaster. While I wait for word of a close writing friend I know many others are receiving devastating news on loved ones and friends. My heart goes out to all of them. I can only imagine the distress of not knowing and at the moment there are quite a few Aussie’s unaccounted for. The crisis isn’t over, waters are still rising. For those in Australia and around the world wanting to donate to the flood relief go here  http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

As rain continues to fall and water levels continue to rise I hope and wish for no more lost lives. Things, cars, houses, TV’s, can all be replaced. People can’t. To everyone in the disaster zone, stay safe.

Hi, dropping in from Toowoomba. You may have seen the images of our “Inland Tsunami”. 8 metre walls of water went raging & roaring down East & West Creeks. East Creek is at the bottom of my street & it was Biblical. It was like a wild, dangerous untamed beast sweeping away & destroying everything in its path. The force & speed of the water was IMPRESSIVE & DEADLY. I hope never to see the like again. Stay safe!!

    • Glad you’re sage Mary and very sorry you had to see something as devastating as that. The images I’ve seen look horrible and I sit in Sydney unable to help anyone. Keep safe and may the worst of it be over.

    Cheers!!

  4. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe. Mother Nature has her own agenda and it seems she has targetted Australia. Stay safe and healthy. Unfortunately with these disasters health risks that we never thought of before are now a concern.

  5. Remember to be very careful and not take risks if you have to evac.
