Horror Day!

JAMBREA

I love horror. I actually have a story started that is more horror than the one I’m going to post. I can’t wait to finish it. But for today I’m going to put up the same book I had up for menage day. It does have the horror tag from my publisher and there are some parts that well…yeah…I would say are horrific. lol

Book two in the Alliance Series

Salvation: Can three people save each other?

Rock is a gun runner who was set in life. The only thing missing is a partner. He thinks it could be Sela, but he wants to be sure he isn’t after her because she reminds him of an old crush. When Dr. Alexander d’Ado explodes onto the scene, he is a goner. Can he have his cake and eat it too?

Zander is a scientist who lives for his work. He is usually oblivious to anything else. When his ship explodes around him can he find salvation in two roughened warriors? He has no idea why someone would be after him, but the three race to find out before someone kills him.

Will the trio find love while on the run?

Reader Advisory: This story contains m/m intimacy as part of a polyamorous relationship, non-consensual sex, sexual assault and graphic violence.

Excerpt From: Salvation

“What the fuck?” Rock stumbled as the ship shuddered. He looked up as Sela ran onto the bridge. “Hold on to something. A ship just exploded in our path.” He focussed on steering the Salvation out of the flames but something caught his eye. “Se, there’s an emergency pod! See if you can find their frequency and hail them,” Rock said over his shoulder, fully expecting her to jump to it. She was efficient that way. He scanned the area to see if there were any other emergency crafts, but didn’t see any other pods in the aftermath of the explosion.

“I’m supposed to be on vacation. I didn’t sign up for this,” Se grumbled.

“You didn’t have to come, you know.” It came out more harshly than he’d intended, but they were in crisis mode right now.

“Rave wouldn’t have forgiven me if I’d let you go on a gun run on your own,” she said clearly, then he thought he heard her mumble, “Stupid libido.”

“I’ve been doing this solo for a while. I don’t need my hand held by Rave and your cousin. Or you for that matter. Shit. Someone’s shooting at the pod. You get a frequency yet?” Rock threw back at her.

“I’m going as fast as I can.”

“Go faster,” he snapped. He wasn’t irritated with her but he needed to get to the pilot of that pod. He’d apologise later. Maybe.

“Damn it, Rock. If you don’t like my speed, do it yourself.”

“Stop arguing with me. I’d like to find out why my gun sale went south.” He didn’t understand her need to fight him at every turn. Most days it was a turn-on, but this wasn’t the time or the place for his cock to take charge.

“What are you talking about?” Se sounded peevish.

“That ship was my contact. Maybe whoever escaped in the pod has the answers I need.”

“Put more pressure on me, why don’t you?” Se said under her breath.

“Se!” He was about to lose what little sanity he had left. Didn’t she know that?

“It isn’t the fate of the world. It’s one gun sale.” Se sighed, pushing her hair out of her face.

“Those guns were going to a planet being overrun with marauders. The inhabitants need to protect themselves or they’ll be enslaved. So, yeah, the fate of someone’s world could be at stake. We need that pod.” They were going to have to do something about the sexual tension between them soon because he couldn’t take the fighting anymore. He’d rather be fucking. And now wasn’t the time. Damn.

“Stop it with the bleeding heart stuff. I’ve got them,” Se mumbled almost to herself.

“I’m the bleeding heart?” That made him smile. He’d never been known for his sympathy. Not that he wasn’t sympathetic, but money was a bigger motivator.

Se laughed. “Just talk to the pod. You’re keyed in.”

And just like that, his sanity was back. They really did work well together.

“Emergency pod, this is the captain of the Salvation. Do you need assistance?”

There was no response. Fuck. That couldn’t be good.

“Are you sure this is right?” He looked over at Se.

“Yes. They probably don’t know if we are friend or foe. They did just come off an exploding ship and who knows who’s there or what shape they’re in.” Se shrugged.

“This is the captain of the Salvation. We will shelter you. Please acknowledge,” Rock tried again, realising that Se was correct—anyone could be in there and only a handful of people had known he was meeting up with the ship.

“How do you use this thing? Hello? Hello?” A masculine voice floated over the airwaves.

Rock bit back a shout of relief. “I hear you. Do you need us to bring you in?”

On screen, another shot hit the pod. Rock couldn’t look away—it was like a bad vid streaming in 3D, and he had front row seats.

“Rock, you need to get that ship in here or it’s going to fall apart.” Se’s worry coloured her voice.

“Emergency pod, we’ve got a lock on you. Don’t touch anything. We’re bringing you in.” Rock manipulated the controls and the pod slowly inched its way towards the Salvation.

Come on, come on.

It was taking forever. Or seemed to be. He needed to upgrade his fucking equipment.

LEXXIE COUPER

I grew up on a steady diet of horror. I guess that’s why I’m so…weird *grin* This is a snippet from Endless Lust, the second book in my Seven Deadly Daemon series. It also just won BEST HORROR ROMANCE for 2011 in the EPIC awards. Yay!

Cate Sinclair’s life is ruled by lust. Day and night, awake and dreaming, an unseen force plies her with pleasure to the point of pain. Each orgasm wrenched from her exhausted body stealing her energy, her very essence, until insanity seems a sweet relief.

When Eamon enters her life, Cate’s uncertain if the gorgeous, enigmatic man is her salvation…or the cause of her worst nightmares.

Reader Advisory: Our heroine endures endless amounts of forced seduction. But how do you fight advances from an enemy you can’t see?

Excerpt

“Going to fuck you.”

The whispered voice growled in her ear a second before she was pushed backward. Not a gentle shove, but a violent punch to her chest that sent her flying across the room. She slammed into the wall, the textured surface scraping her back as she dropped to the floor, her teeth clicking together in a painful jolt.

“What the fu—”

Something wet plunged into her mouth. Hard. Demanding. Hands ripped at her flesh. Fingers shoved into her sex, wriggling deep inside her, seeking the innermost heat of her body. She writhed, dark ribbons of unwanted pleasure spearing through her.

This can’t…what…what…!

Unseen teeth bit at her bottom lip. More fingers scratched at her nipple. Pinched it. Twisted it. She cried out, the sound muffled by a mouth that wasn’t there. Hands mauled her breasts. A heavy weight pressed down on her, something large and solid shoving between her already-splayed legs to push them wider apart.

Heat blasted the side of her face, like a hot breath panting in her ear, against her throat. The weight pushing down on her hips grew heavier, something rock-hard and oh so hot sliding upward…

Her earlier arousal vanished, replaced with terror. She lashed out, her arms connecting with nothing.

Nothing.

Nothing’s there, Cate. Nothing is—

It stopped. Everything.

Cate lay on the floor, staring around her empty bedroom, her breath tearing from her in rapid gasps.

The air was still, the room silent.

She swallowed, her mouth dry, and let out a strangled whimper when the sour taste of garlic and bad breath slid over her taste buds.

No, you’re imagining it. You have to be.

Her heart thumped, forcing blood through her veins and making her chilled limbs tingle with heat.

That didn’t happen, Cate. Get up. Get to work. Now.

She scrambled to her feet, unwilling to blink. Unwilling to close her eyes for even a second to a room mocking her with its emptiness.

And it was empty. As empty as the bathroom had been. As empty as it had been when she’d fallen asleep the previous night.

There’s no one here. You know what that means, don’t you?

She drew in a slow breath, raising a hand to her mouth to wipe at her lips. Her dry lips.

Nothing happened to you, Catey.

So why did her body ache? Why were her breasts swollen with an unspeakable, disturbing desire? Why were the insides of her upper thighs damp with an orgasm her body told her she’d had?

She turned and looked at herself in the mirrored door of her cupboard. Not a mark marred her skin. Not even the love bite.

A tight knot rolled in her stomach.

“It didn’t happen,” she growled to her reflection. “Go to work. Get your promotion and then make a doctor’s appointment, a cat-scan, an MRI.”

Her stomach clenched again but she ignored it. What other option did she have? Either admit she was crazy and check herself into the nearest booby hatch, or go to work.

With a determined glare, she jerked open her cupboard and snatched out a pair of jeans, followed by an old Astro-Boy T-shirt. Her hands shook, her muscles seeming to resist her brain’s commands. With a muttered curse, she yanked on her jeans, her still-damp skin making them cling to her legs. She didn’t care. Nor did she care she’d completely neglected to put on underwear first.

Fuck it. She didn’t need underpants. She needed to get to work. That’s what she needed to do.

At least put on a bra.

A slight movement flashed in the corner of her eye and she snapped her head around, staring into her bathroom through the open door across the hall. The glass bird hanging in the closed window spun slowly on its line, its wings spread, its beak open in a perpetual cry.

Silence stretched through the bedroom, sliding over Cate where she stood half-dressed. She swallowed, staring hard at the bird.

Its slow rotations ceased; its movement stilling until it hung motionless again.

Without removing her stare from the glass ornament, Cate quickly donned a bra, her heart beating faster as she hurried to dress…

And felt the featherlight caress of something soft—a paintbrush?—stroking against her belly as she fought with the armholes of her T-shirt.

She screamed, staggering backward, blinded by the garment. Her heel snagged on the bedroom rug and she fell, her raised arms still tangled in her T-shirt. Her hip smashed into one solid post of her bed frame, the oak column punching into her bone as she toppled sideways onto the bed.

Agonizing pain shot through her, spearing down her leg. She cried out, her arms inexplicably bound by a shirt that now felt like strong, coarse rope, and still the brushwork continued on her belly. Stroking higher, following the line of her rib cage, her breasts, and she couldn’t do anything about it. Then the brushstrokes were replaced with tongue strokes…

She was in full-blown panic mode. Flailing wildly in a petrified attempt to free her arms, to understand what was happening. Thrashing on her bed as her hip screamed in pain and a tongue lapped at her breasts and nipples through the lace of her bra. She recognized the panic. Knew she should fight for calm.

But she couldn’t. All she could do was flail on the bed, choking on wild sobs, as another orgasm began to build.

All she could do was gasp and whimper and arch her back as the tongue laving her breasts became a mouth sucking on her nipples. Sucking hard.

And when she came once more, her climax as brutal as the mouth on her breasts, she swore she felt the brushstrokes again. Soft and delicate and purposeful. Painting her body. Creating her even as her orgasm destroyed her. Sucked the energy from her.

Cate sobbed in fear, in rage. “This isn’t happening! This isn’t happ—”

A tongue plunged into her mouth, swiped at her lips…

And then she was alone.

Alone. And freaking the fuck out.

Oh, I loved ENDLESS LUST! Such a great, unique story. It is the only horror romance I have read (although I do read a lot of paranormals, etc) . I would definitely love to read more like this one.

  2. Lexxie, when they called your name as the winner, I clapped the loudest for you. 🙂 Or course, my whole table just looked at me like I was crazy.

Endless Lust sounds so good! Added to my TBR list. I have read lots of horror but they aren’t the ones that include romance.

  4. I’ve read a few romantic horror, there’s something exciting about terror and hot sex together! 🙂 I’m really looking forward to reading these two books and seeing what tomorrow’s genre will be!

  5. caitymack Says:

Congratulations on your Epic award, Lexxie. I haven’t read any stories in this category yet, and I would be totally game to give your two stories a try.

  6. flchen1 Says:

I typically avoid horror like well… the plague 😉 BUT I will absolutely make an exception for JJJ and Lexxie! No need to include me–I have both of these on my keeper shelf!

  7. I loved Endless Lust, and also the first in the series, Timeless Wrath! I really need to get Jambrea’s book, or rather series, just need to find the money to sneak out of the budget somewhere.

  8. Courtney S Says:

Oh wow! These both sound good. I’m adding them to the TBR “tower”.

  9. Julianne Says:

I’m really not much of a horror person. I don’t want to read anything that makes me hide under the bed afterward. My husband has watched a few horror movies and I didn’t want to pay attention, but I did, and yep, I ended up laying on top of him. I had such nightmares I told him no more chop ’em up, blood and guts crap.

  10. I’m not much for reading horror books although I used to be a big Stephen King fan. However, for a Lexxie or Jambrea book I will make an exception. both of these books sound awesome!

  11. tazfl001 Says:

Horror is not at the top of my list. It’s been a bit since I read a horror.

  12. Kris M. Says:

i am not sure if I have read many if any horror romance, i cannot think of any. I enjoy romantic suspense and paranormal stories, so I would probably enjoy them. Fun, now I have a new goal to look for and a couple of suggestions to get me started, YAY 🙂
