You know how there’s certain romance novel setups that you just can’t get enough of? Like the sheik-marries-pregnant-farmgirl, or the billionaire-marries-pregnant-secretary, or the secret-baby-amnesiac-father or…well, you get the idea.

What’s my favorite? The girl-falls-for-brother’s-best-friend-and-he-falls-for-her-too scenario.

There’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the forbidden love (cause, dude, you DO NOT mess with your buddy’s sister), or maybe it’s the way each person kind of wakes up one day and realizes that this girl or guy they’ve always considered a friend of the family is something more. Whatever it is, I eat it up with a spoon and come back for seconds.

I started to write Veiled Desire with one scene in mind, the beginning, with my heroine spying her hero strutting around his house in the almost-buff. It didn’t take me long to work in my favorite trope and make Mason the lifelong friend of Leyla’s little brother. Who is, shall we say, just a little overprotective of his big sister. Yeah, we writers really love to torture our characters.

So, what’s your favorite romance novel setup?

Look, but don’t touch…

Leyla Karimi can’t keep her eyes off the hunky guy living in the house behind her. How could any woman resist ogling Dr. Mason Barrett, especially when he makes it so easy by parading around in his skin and skivvies?

If it was only their age difference, she would have made a move a long time ago. Except Mason is more than a neighbor. He’s her baby brother’s oldest friend. It’s not like they can have a casual fling and walk away in the morning.

Mason’s been doing a little lusting—okay a lot—for quite some time. When he catches Leyla peeking, it’s a sure sign she could finally be ready to heat up his nights with loving. One taste of her lips, though, and he doesn’t want a “little” of anything. He wants it all.

Unwilling to jeopardize a lifetime of friendship for a one-night stand, Leyla is reluctant to throw caution to the wind. When he’s kissing her senseless, though, it’s hard to remember all the reasons why she should hold back…

Warning: Contains a hot hero who doesn’t mind baring it all in the name of love, a heroine who doesn’t settle for less, a sweet romance, steamy sex in a car and more good lovin’ in bed.
