Guest Blogger- Juniper Bell

Hi everyone, I’m Juniper Bell, and I’m very happy to be here on the International Heat blog – especially since it’s about 10 degrees where I live.  International Heat, bring it on! Please, I’m begging.

“Doll,” my first red-hot contemporary from Samhain Publishing, comes out today … (can you hear the party band in the background?)  It takes place on a fishing island in Maine, which inspired Vivian to ask me a few questions relating to “Doll.”

Of course, I was expecting the usual: “what inspired you to write this story?” “How long did it take you to get published?” “What’s ‘Doll’ about?”

But no. Instead we have the first very important question:

Hmm, great question. We can scratch gravy boats off the list, but every other boat works for me. A boat cruising the Caribbean would be nice. A boat with a smokin’ hot, bare-chested captain would be even better. Add in hammock for two, a chef cooking up a feast in the galley, and a case of rum … and you have the second best boat to make love in. The first, of course, being Dustin’s fishing boat. As proof, I offer up Exhibit A:  Chapter 6 — Chloe and Dustin up against the console of the “Lisa May.”

Okay, next question, Viv. (Can you make this one a little more meaningful and profound?)

Ooh, another good one! I’m going to switch into Alaska girl mode and say “wild salmon.” I’ll even share a recipe: grind up some pine nuts and mix them with oregano and sea salt. Pat the mixture onto the salmon filets and sear them in olive oil. Then cook at a lower heat until tender, juicy and delicious. This is my sweetie’s special recipe, which he made for me on our first date. So I can personally vouch for its seductive powers!

Okay, on to our final question. One last chance to discuss “Doll” and other important topics.

Oh, Vivian. I really don’t know what you’re getting at here. I’ve gotten wet in the ocean, especially when swimming naked, especially when swimming naked with a hard-bodied boat captain … oh, you mean … “wet.”

Fine, same answer applies. 😉

Can you tell I have a thing for men on boats? It’s true, they make me weak in the knees. And if you check out “Doll,” hopefully you’ll see why.

Thanks for having me here on International Heat … things have definitely heated up here in Alaska. And thanks for the questions, Vivian, they were fun. (Have you ever considered a career in journalism?)

“Doll” by Juniper Bell

Even a plaything can be pushed too far…

Chloe Barnes thought her marriage to a wealthy politician would be the stuff of fairy tales. Instead, he took advantage of her naiveté and used her as a plaything to fulfill his twisted sexual needs. Ten years is enough. She returns to Bellhaven Island to sell the summer cottage she inherited, hoping the money will buy her freedom—and custody of her daughters.

Fisherman Dustin McDougal never forgot the childhood crush he once had on the fairy-like Chloe. The woman she’s become has a haunted look that brings his feelings back, stronger than ever…with a mature edge. Along with all his protective instincts.

Sexual healing.

Their passion blows stronger than a Maine nor’easter, awakening Chloe to the joy of true love. Yet it may not be strong enough to free her from the past…

Warning: This title contains politicians doing all sorts of nasty things and flashbacks of male domination. It also features hot sex on a boat, hot sex in an attic, hot sex on a work bench…you get the idea
