First Time Bridesmaid

Posted in Lila Dubois on May 31, 2011 by Lila Dubois

Until Saturday I could lament that I’d never been a bridesmaid. I’d HAD five bridesmaids of my own (six, if you count my brother who stood up with me in addition to my girls). On Saturday one of my dearest friends married a wonderful geek of a man (who, incidentally, caught my garter at my wedding).

I’ve never wanted to kill her more.

Not on Saturday, her actual wedding day. Then I thought she was beautiful and elegant and I was so happy for her.

However, on Friday I wanted to pinch her, really, really hard on some place that wouldn’t show the next day. This friend is the calmest, least demanding person I know…normally. I’m not sure who that was on Friday, living in my friend’s skin, but that bitch was lucky I didn’t strangle her.

In the midst of being FLABBERGASTED by the body-snatching I was happy reflecting on what I must have been like as the bride nearly a year ago.

Oh…Shit.

I am NOT the calmest or least demanding person on the planet. I crazy at the best of times, and my wedding made me both crazier and massively unsure of what I wanted, so I changed my mind basically every minute.

Holy fuck. I’m lucky my friends were still speaking to me after.

At midnight, only 8 hours before I need to be up preparing this friend to be married I called me best friend, the girl who had served as my maid of honor…and apologized. She laughed and laughed, then told me she was so happy we could finally talk about all the crazy things I’d done.

That’s right, my friend waited, continued to put up with my crazy, and supported me thought the million things that have gone nuts in my life since then, all without confronting me about the insane behavior.

That’s true love.

I think in the worlds of romance and erotic romance it’s so easy to lose sight of the fact that that BDSM relationship really WON’T work unless the BFFs of both parties are on board, or that the seemingly quiet librarian whose also a dominatrix will bust out the dominant personality traits when it comes to wedding planning. I’m not campaigning to turn romance or erotic romance into women’s fiction, because then someone would have to die tragically/beautifully/slowly and that’s just not summer reading fun. However, I think it’s good for us to all remember the other true-love relationships we have in our lives, besides the head on the pillow besides yours. Or heads on pillows if that’s your preference.

Grab The Kleenex!

Posted in Random chaos, T on May 27, 2011 by ebookaddict

No favorites list would be complete without sharing songs that make you cry.  Admit it there are songs out there no matter how many times you hear them that make you cry every time.

I thought Friday was a good day to share them since it is the start of the weekend not much that can depress us for long with the weekend in our sites.  Fair warning that you might need some Kleenex before you start listening to these songs.

Skin (aka Sarah Beth) by Rascal Flats is a truly beautiful song but every time I hear it I am reduced to tears.

With Memorial Day coming up these next three songs have special meaning we lost so many on September 11 and are still loosing more fighting men and woman everyday I pray everyday for the safe return and am thankful for their sacrifice to keep our homelands safe!

Have You Forgotten by Darryl Worley

This next one if I am driving I have to pull over to the side of the road because I can’t see through the tears, changing the station doesn’t work because I know what is coming and the tears start to flow.
I couldn’t find an official video but this person more than does the song justice.

One more song before I give you all a break I love this next song because I like to believe that he is watching out for all our children. Sorry the quality on this one isn’t great but the official video has some other music set to it – *shrugs* So I had to find a different video.

The Little Girl by John Michael Montgomery

Have a Wonderful weekend everyone I’ll be back tomorrow to announce the ebook winner.

Blame It On Joyee Flynn and Stormy Glenn

Posted in Random chaos, T on May 26, 2011 by ebookaddict

Ok I can’t blame it all on them when I agreed to switch places I forgot all about this being payday week which is always hectic around here top it off with last day of school on Monday, doctor appointment on Tuesday, shopping on Wednesday and than 3 awesome books came out Tuesday don’t know how many of you read Joyee Flynn and Stormy Glenn but if you don’t there is this great new series at Siren PublishingJoyee Flynn, Stormy Glenn and Gabriele Evans each have a book in the Midnight Matings series emotional, funny, romantic and erotic. I finished Joyee and Stormy’s during and between all the running around this week and am currently reading Gabrielle’s now. I haven’t wanted to put the books down so it has lead to some very late nights followed by very early mornings and long days running what feels like non-stop, but boy are they worth the lack of sleep even if I am a bit cranky with the rest of the family but they’ll survive. So if you can forgive me for being absent yesterday we didn’t get back from all our errands until yesterday evening and I was tired :(

Today’s favorite songs are going to bring back some memories and I’m sure are going to date more than just myself. Most of these aren’t going to have music video’s and they came out before the MTV era *gasp*

One of my favorite even today is Rainbow Connection not the one sung by The Carpenters all though they did a great job, but I’m in love with the little green guy Kermit The Frog nobody sings it like him!!

*

*

Anybody remember Smoking In the Boys Room either Brownsville Station or Motley Crue.  Personally I like Motley Crue’s best they were one of my favorite bands as a teenager.

*

*

How about Sister Christian by Night Ranger?

*

*

My favorite nap-time music was Johnny Cash I love everything by him but I love A Boy Named Sue it never fails to make me laugh I don’t care how many times I hear and I’ve heard it a lot.

*

*

Ok I might not make myself popular but I like Barry Manilow, Mandy, I Write The Songs, Copacabana those are some great songs!

*

*

Ok one last song I just can’t help myself I love the oldies and as you have seen probably not what would be considered traditional oldies but I love music of all kinds.

Puff The Magic Dragon Peter, Paul and Mary had some great music out in their time but my favorite of theirs has and always will be Puff The Magic Dragon!

*

*

Hope everyone has enjoyed my trip down memory lane I could go all day with favorite oldies but I’ll spare you and stop here ;)
