Getting To Know Lorelei James
Guess what today is?? Yep you guessed it interview day and today I’ve brought with me author Lorelei James.
Welcome Lorelei and thank so very much for agreeing to the interview. You’re welcome. I know this is late. I got so far behind – heck who am I kidding I’m still behind – I’m still trying to catch up! But I love to take a break and answer those burning questions you all have about why I never seem to leave my house and why can’t I write faster?<g>
Before we get started I’d like to give you a chance to tell us about your upcoming releases tease and tempt to your hearts content:). I just had the second book (novella) in the Wild West Boys series, Miss Firecracker, released on June 30th as an ebook. It’s a lighthearted summer romp, a perfect beach read. Next is Shoulda Been A Cowboy, which is Cam McKay’s book, and that will be out as an ebook on Aug. 25th. Three’s Company Anthology releases in print August 1st and Rough, Raw, and Ready releases in print September 1st. Lastly, Keely McKay’s book, All Jacked Up, will be out in November.
Who are some of your must read authors and why? JD Robb. I love the In Death books and love how she’s had the chance for her characters in that series to evolve over twenty-something books. CJ Box. He writes western thrillers and his characters and plots are always spot on and great entertainment. Dennis Lehane, who is an absolute master wordsmith, however, I will admit his latest book—a historical—is sitting unread in my office because it is like 800 pages and I haven’t had time to start it. Robert Crais is another “must” for me. His Elvis Cole mystery series is one of the best out there. Maya Banks. I love her contemporary erotic romances. Lora Leigh. No one writes apha males better than her.
Name a few of your must read books and why? I don’t have much time to read these days, which means I don’t do a lot of rereading, but when or if I do, these would be the ones worth a second look. I’ll give examples of the books of the authors I named. JD Robb, Naked in Death. CJ Box, Blue Heaven, Dennis Lehane, A Drink Before the War, Robert Crais, The Last Detective, Maya Banks, Sweet Persuasion and Lora Leigh, Naughti Intentions.
If you could meet any author/s in the world who would it be and why? I would love to meet Stephen King because he’s influenced my writing so much. Not that I write any horror at all, but he’s made someone like me, who doesn’t read horror, a rabid fan, and to me that’s the mark of a great writer. His “On Writing” book is one of the best books out there as far as craft.
What book/s are reading right now? Nonfiction, believe it or not. I have a ton of military books I’m skimming for research. Besides that, sadly, I’ve got too many deadlines to hit before I can do any reading in my hammock for personal enjoyment. Wait, I did sneak a Shannon McKenna book in a couple weeks back. It was great.
If you could choose one author to co-write a book with who would it be? Goddess Nora Roberts. Not only does she have a bajillion books in print, they’re all good books. Plus I like her writing style. Oh, and I wouldn’t mind writing a book with the guys who write “Lost” every week. Those screen writers have an amazing imagination and the plots, characters and red herrings are top notch.
Thank you again Lorelei for being here today, and I hope you come back again soon–Thanks for having me, T!
Have a Great Day Everyone!
