Lori Foster’s – here we come!
As you all might know (or not), 5 of us (Mari, Viv, RC, Jambrea, and me) here at International Heat will be attending the Lori Foster reader get together on June 5th. Viv, Jambrea and I will be coming in on Thursday.
Last year, Jambrea and I only came for the booksigning on Saturday. We had such a good time, that this year we decided there was NO WAY we were going to miss anything, so we are staying through Sunday morning!
I have started to pack – and for only being gone for three days, I have a full suitcase! I always over pack. Always. I just never know if I’m going to need a dressy shirt, or will a t-shirt work? What if I’m hot? Or if I’m cold? Do I bring a sweater? I know it’s June, but some places have the a/c blasting away. What if I’m a klutz (yes, that happens) and I spill something on me? I will need a clean shirt. So, for three actual days – I have 6 shirts packed. A sweater – just in case. Lounge pants for hanging around the hotel room. I was tempted to bring my bathing suit, but I doubt we’ll have time to hang around in the pool. I might bring it. Just in case we have a pool party. You never know! So, on top of all the clothes, I have my cover art portfolio that I wanted to pitch to Samhain and Liquid Silver, my laptop – I don’t travel without it, and all the books I want signed. Heh, it’s a good thing I’m driving!
For me it’s a 5 hour trip – but 6 really because I have time zone change in Indiana. And I’ll pick up Viv in Indianapolis on the way to Cincinnati. It’ll be fun to have someone to chat with the last couple of hours of the trip. There are over 300 attendees this year, and I am looking forward to meeting all the authors and all my fellow readers. I was fortunate enough to meet Jambrea – before she was a famous author – last year, and now I get to meet in person (finally!) Mari, Viv and RC. I wish Lila and Jess would be able to make it, as well as Sherry and T. Some year we’ll be able to coordinate all of our travel schedules and get together.
I’m thinking a trip to Barbados might be in order… Do we know anyone from there?
Remember, we’re holding a ‘Stay at Home’ contest for those of you who can’t make it out. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post or the ones that follow until Sunday, June 7th. On Monday, June 8th we will draw a winner! The more days you post, the better your chances of winning.

Wow, that sounds like fun. Living in New Zealand I miss all the good stuff when it comes to conferences and get togethers. Enjoy!

Have a great time, Val. Of course, I don’t see how you could NOT have a good time, considering your company. As far as the overpacking goes, you just never know when you might need that something extra! And you certainly don’t want to spend time away from the conference having to shop for it. Sp up have complete justification for what some might call ‘overpacking.’ Oh, and bring that bathing suit! It doesn’t take up much room, and you will regret not having it if you need it.
All the best,
Julie

I’m so glad you’re extending your trip this year.
And hey, I’m with you. When I pack, I overpack… for the same reasons you gave!
Our June weather here in Ohio is supposed to be sunny and mid 80s, so warm, but yeah, the hotel can be cool – until 300 women pack into a room and start giving off body heat. LOL
Better to be prepared!
Only a few more days!

would love to be going also but I’m staying home. We can live vicariously through your tales and pics of the event. Thanks.

I also tend to over pack. But hey, if you have the extra clothes then you won’t be a klutz and spill on your only outfit for the day. It’s a Murphy’s Law thing!
